ABOUT US
The New Jersey’s Largest High-Technology Business Incubator, founded in 1988, is New Jersey’s oldest technology oriented small business incubator. The program is committed to the long-term economic vitality and growth of entrepreneurial ventures in the State of New Jersey. The incubator exists to increase the rate of small business formations and to decrease the failure rate of start-ups. Founded in 1988, EDC addresses problems that young technology-based businesses have in obtaining appropriate technology, market information, management assistance and access to capital by providing, on a non-exclusive basis, reasonably priced office space, shared services to reduce overhead costs, and business, technical and financing assistance. The program provides a broad base of support and acts as a Ňproving groundÓ in conjunction with the NJIT campus, faculty, management, alumni, and students for new and developing high-tech products.

Access to NJIT Technology
Corporatecollaboration has been integral to New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT)'s mission since the university's founding in 1881 when major industrialists joined with the state to establish a modern school of technology in New Jersey's largest city. Then as now, the university's most important contribution to business and industry is human resource development. Over the years, however, NJIT's core mission has evolved to include a wide range of programs and initiatives that augment a company's ability to compete in today's global economy and respond to new challenges such as organizational restructuring and downsizing of the defense establishment.
For small businesses, the university is an essential provider of the latest technical information and advice - in effect transferring technology and knowledge from academe to the workplace. Teams of engineering, management and computer experts solve specific problems for small businesses that can improve their chances for survival and competitiveness. NJIT's low-cost small business service units are particularly valued for their objectivity; their guidance is not confounded by a vested interest in promoting and selling particular products.
Specifically, the EDC helps it's client companies gain technology support with one or more of the following NJIT technology resource centers.
